“Life is not a problem to be solved; it is an adventure to be lived”. -John Eldredge

There are those that believe in the power of your dreams, and there are those that don’t. There are times of adversity and failure and there are times of joy and success. Through it all you will have people that support you and people who do not. Having an independent mind and set of goals will set you apart. What makes you come alive and awakens your bones? What livens your steps? Whatever it is go do it. Often stressful life situations will enrapture our joy and adventurous spirit. We think logically but not beautifully.  There is so much life to be lived, so much love to be loved, so much beauty. Isn’t life beautiful? When we believe in the wonder and excitement of our own dreams, passions, and pursuits  that is when we really start living.

I knew I was different from the beginning. Growing up I enjoyed climbing trees, pretending I was a spy, escaping to the woods as if I were on the run, and playing make believe. I was never much for academics.I had an adventurous spirit that longer for something deeper. I wasn’t bad at school, I just never enjoyed it.  I loved playing, pretending, and getting in trouble. I was never bored. My imagination ran wild. It was rampant. As I grew older began to understand the importance of school. I wanted to be like my friends and family who were dedicated to their schoolwork. I wanted academics to make me successful. I thought that was the only way. There was always something that pushed me to reach within my soul and do the best I possibly could.  In high school I graduated at the top of my class, and yet I was miserable. I suffered from depression for a time period. There was something inside of me that longs for depth of the soul that goes beyond academic achievement, a successful career, professional educate, financial status, or marriage. Overwhelmed by my unhappiness I had no clue what direction my life was going. One thing I recently learned from talking an EMT. He explained to me that our body prepares to die when we have a failure to thrive. I was dead.

“Get busy living, or get busy dying.” -Amber Run (Noah)

Alive. Then I came alive. When I realized I could put everything that was not me away. I am an adventurer, an explorer, a journeyer. I don’t have to work a 9-5 job. I don’t have to want a six figure salary. I don’t want to spend my precious years away in an office. I want to make a difference not a paycheck. Happiness flooded my veins once more. I knew who I was, and I wanted more of her. I wanted to dress, act, and talk like myself. If I was me, and me to the best of my ability success would find me no doubt.

“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive”. -Gil Bailie

Often times college students are encouraged to obtain a degree that will land them prestigious well paying job. While prestige and wealth may bring comfort they cannot bring satisfaction of the soul. Around 80% of Americans say they do not have their dream job. As dangerous as it might sound I wanted to chase after my dreams that don’t make sense. That is my adventure. When choosing a future, choose something that is going to get you out of bed in the morning and put a smile on your face at night. In life we are given such a short amount of time anyhow. It should not be spent squandering in a job we hate. What makes you tick? What makes you come alive?

“Two roads diverged in a wood and I, I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference”. -Robert Frost

You don’t have to be normal. Find your dream and chase after it with relentless pursuit. People will doubt you, laugh at you, and attempt to crush your dreams. Don’t blame them. It is only natural to be incapable of visualizing what our eyes cannot see. That is when faith comes in my friend. If you have faith in the possibility and plausibility of your own dreams you will reach the peak you have been climbing. There is no doubt that if you approach your goals with a relentless pursuit that you will achieve it. If you want to be a world traveler, live in a van, or climb Mount Everest do it. If you want to teach, perform surgeons, sing, paint, organize, cook, or something else you are passionate about- take the leap of faith and do what makes you come alive. Just think the crazier your dream is, whatever it is, the more unique. I don’t know about you, but I want to live a unique life chalked full with surprises, twists and turns, and most of all adventure.

Live your life fully engaged and ambitious. There is so much beauty, joy, love, and wonder in the world we have so much to rejoice over.

Love,

Morgan
