Pumpkin spice lattes, chunky sweaters, and tacky scarecrow decorations are just a few of the things I am giddy about this fall. Last year, I spent all of the fall season in Florida. While I will never complain about have sunny 80 degree weather most, days, I never got to experience fall the way I do in North Carolina. In the past, the changing of the seasons wasn’t all that exciting to me. One season came the other went like it was no big deal. But after Covid my perspective changed. I started celebrating the little things. On the first day I could break out this deep yellow sweater I had been dying to wear something inside me became unreasonably excited. With that being said here fall activities ideas you can do to put yourself in the mood for celebration.
1.) Pumpkin spice & everything nice
Pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin bread, and pumpkin scented candles are all worth looking forward to. Last weekend, I drove to Starbucks in honor of the first PSL of the season.
2.) Carve pumpkins
Carving pumpkins is an old fall tradition that is fun from start to finish. From picking out the perfect pumpkin, gutting its insides of pulp, to then carving two triangles and a wacky smile for a mouth. My jack-lantern always ends up looking pretty spooky, mainly because of my lack of artistic talent rather than on purpose.
3.) Wear a chunky sweater
While beachwear and flip flops have there place, there is nothing better than feeling cozy in a chunky warm sweater. It has been a hot summer in North Carolina. At some point in the summer, it gets so blazing hot that no one wants to go outside even to walk to their car. Now that the weather has cooled off its time to put on those comfy clothes and go outside again.
4.) Watch a scary movie

5.) Bring a little orange in your life
Fall colors look amazing on everything. Orange, yellow, hunter green, and burgundy are some of my favorites I cannot wait to wear. Put out some fall decorations. You don’t have to go all out, but changing the scenery a little can make a whole room feel festive.
6.) Read a Stephen King novel
Stephen King is the god of horror when it comes to literature. If you are in search of some spooky tales this season, just grab any one of his books. They are sure to keep you sleeping with one eye open at night.
7.) Candy corn
These sugary treats are my favorite, especially the pumpkin candy corn. I wait all year to indulge in these treats. As soon as they begin to pop up on target’s shelves I snag a couple bags.
The warm colors of changing leaves make fall the perfect time to have a photo shoot. Whether you are heading to a nature trail or a pumpkin patch get outside and take some pictures.
Message Less or Morgan for a fall photo-shoot slot.
9.) Have a bowl of Autumn squash soup
There is no fall dish quite as good as my Mom’s Autumn squash soup. It is rich, creamy, and oh so tasty.
10.) Take a foliage drive
There are so many beautiful places to see the leaves changing color in North Carolina. Go on a long Sunday drive, take a deep breath, and enjoy the views.
Do one or all of these fall activities ideas and I guarantee you will be just as excited about this season as I am. Indulge yourself in the fall fun, because life is worth celebrating.
